Political parties are in a scramble, exploring possible ways to work together in order to get the ANC out of power should it not get more than 50% of the votes next year.
JOHANNESBURG - The Patriotic Alliance ’s Gayton McKenzie says it's willing to sign a declaration that it won't enter into coalition talks with the African National Congress after the 2024 general elections provided that the Democratic Alliance is willing to do the same.
In a social media post, McKenzie, who is president of the PA, said that his party was willing to not work with the ANC next year. This will also see the DA and some political parties meeting for a national convention to explore a pre-election agreement. And while the PA is not one of the parties involved in the talks, organisations like ActionSA are pushing for it to be included."We are willing to sign that we will not go with the ANC in 2024, on condition that the DA signs the same thing. Don't give us instructions on things you are not willing to do. The PA is willing to not go with the ANC, as long as the DA also signs a declaration.
