🗣 Having refused to speak to the media since the beginning of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, France superstar Kylian Mbappe has finally broken his silence after being fined by FIFA. SLInt MORE:
For the first time at the global showpiece, following France's 3-1 round of 16 win over Poland on Sunday, Mbappe spoke to the press after FIFA ordered the French Football Federation to pay a fine after the 23-year-old declined to speak to members of the media ahead of the team's earlier matches in the competition.
Fresh off finding the back of the net twice against Czeslaw Michniewicz's men, the Paris Saint-Germain star revealed the reason for his media fast. "People have been asking why I haven't appeared in front of the media," Mbappe said after the match, as per the"When I want to concentrate, that is how I do it. I heard the FFF is going to get fined, so I will pay it as I don't think the FFF should pay on my behalf."
The Paris native's second-half double against the Poles places him as the outright top goalscorer of the tournament so far with five goals, but Mbappe has insisted he is more concerned with winning the World Cup than individual accolades."I came here to win the World Cup, not the Golden Boot. That's not why I'm here.
"I'm here to win with the team. If I win the Golden Boot, then I'd obviously be happy, but the team is the most important thing."
