The Rangers starter — and former Met — will take the mound in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Astros, marking his first outing since Sept. 12 when he strained his teres muscle in his right shoulder.
Scherzer returns with the Rangers ahead 2-0 in the series as things shift to Globe Life Field in Arlington. “Just trying to get back in the flow of things and just get in my routines, and I get to pitch,” Scherzer told reporters Tuesday about coming back. “You know, thrilled about that. “Given that I was able to get back to actually playing catch within a week of the actual injury, that was a good sign,” Scherzer said. “The longer time you have away from throwing a baseball the longer it takes to ramp back up. “He’s been working pretty good, so he can get us at least in that area, if not more,” manager Bruce Bochy said, according to The Associated Press. “The guy is hungry to get out there and pitch.
