Defending champion Max Homa of the USA leads the Nedbank Challenge at Sun City after the opening round on six under par. He's one shot ahead of South Africa’s Ockie Strydom who completed his first round in five under par 67. Homa started strong, birdieing his first 3 holes, followed by more birdies on holes 6, 9, and 11. Despite a bad patch on holes 13 and 15, Homa bounced back with birdies on holes 17 and 18.
Strydom, who started his round on the 10th hole, made a birdie and an eagle over his first 5 holes, with only a dropped shot on the 15th being his blemish. Thriston Lawrence, who played with the defending champion, had a rollercoaster round with 4 birdies and 3 bogeys
