Hundreds of cannabis plants have been found growing inside an abandoned school. Stunned cops discovered the enormous illegal farm at the former Islamic school in Walsall on Monday.

The cannabis disposal team at West Midlands Police boasted about the impressive haul on Twitter: ‘Not your usual school.‘Top marks for the cannabis team who cleared the 711 plants.’The school closed around two years ago during lockdown and has been boarded up ever since. One anonymous mum, who lives nearby, said: ‘There were police there all over the weekend but none of them would tell us what was going on.It was quite the haul for the cannabis disposal team ‘It’s pretty outrageous to be growing weed in a school. It’s a sign of the times I guess.’

Other residents made light of the discovery in the comments: ‘It used to be a school, but it’s now a nursery.’ Another joked: ‘I know we’ve got a drug problem in some of our schools but this is taking it to another level.’
