“The subjects fled the area at a high rate of speed, in a white Maserati SUV with paper plates and were not located,” police said in a Nixle alert. Berkeley police did not immediately respond to a request for additional information on the attempted theft. It’s unclear whether the person who reported having the guns waved at them was the owner of the car that the two individuals were trying to steal a catalytic converter from.
