A vital government scheme will not be available for billpayers this winter
Martin Lewis has issued an urgent warning for some energy customers over potential price rises this winter.
Last year, the government provided a £400 discount through the Energy Bills Support Scheme. Therefore, suppliers must take "reasonable steps" to make sure that direct debit costs are based on the best available information and must also explain why you are being charged a certain amount. If too much money is taken, then the supplier is obliged to refund credit.
