Martin Lewis says one simple check could give your family a cash boost of around £5,774 a year – and it takes just minutes to do
Martin Lewis’ Money saving Expert has urged families earning less then £60,000 a year to make a quick 10-minute check. And those 10 minutes could mean extra cash in the bank.
Universal Credit is a monthly payment for those on lower incomes to help with living costs. You may be eligible if you are working but not earning much, out of work or unable to work. Even if you’ve checked before it’s worth checking again. Government benefits rose by 6.7% this month, meaning you can now earn more before your benefits are affected.

These include: Council Tax support Every council runs a scheme offering discounts to low-income residents. What you’re entitled to and who is eligible varies from council to council but your bill could be reduced by up to 100%.
