They might be entitled to a significant payment
A letter from HM Revenue and Customs being sent to households in the UK telling recipients they are owed money is not a scam and should not be thrown away, says Martin Lewis. The finance expert was addressing women of state pension age - 66 and over - on his television programme "The Money Show".
But this seems to have been missed off some people's National Insurance Record. The HRP scheme was replaced by National Insurance credits in 2010 and seems to have been largely forgotten about. “The letter will be titled, ‘You may be eligible for Home Responsibilities Protection’, it’s mainly for women and it can be worth thousands of pounds, or in some cases tens of thousands of pounds. I got a success on this today, £30,000 - that’s why I’m saying don’t bin it.”
He continued: “Younger people will be able to do this later, or you could look into doing it now, but you will get your letters later. They’re starting with the people who are already at State Pension age.
