Money saving expert Martin Lewis has issued a ‘remember’ warning to those with a bank account. The money guru has spoken out to try and stop UK bank account holders being targeted by fraudsters.
In the UK the biggest current account banks are NatWest, HSBC, Lloyds, RBS and Santander, as well as Halifax, Barclays and Nationwide, reports Birmingham Live. Taking to social media, Martin Lewis said: "Phone number to remember: 159 If you need call your bank urgently and can't remember its number, just call 159 and it'll put you through.
" PS if you have had poss scam call, use a different line to call back in case they're spoofing a dial tone."Lee replied: "How do we this is really you @MartinSLewis? Can you post a picture with a spoon on your head to prove you are genuine, no clicking on trafic light stuff here!" Mr Lewis replied: "Because its my validated feed. Because the same thing is on MSE. Because I've just been posting about it on this morning." Jim said: "I thought if you hang up the call is now ended. Instead of how it used to be, that both sides had to hang up to end the call unless you take another call during the initial call."
Lionhead said: "No doubt the scammers who are quick to twist their scams to the latest events will try setting up variations of that phone number pretty soon." Mr Lewis added: "It's been around a while - this is just a reminder," in response to another query from a follower.
