Ahead of Soccer Aid, Line of Duty actor Martin Compston reveals he thinks his opponent and former EastEnders star would make a brilliant addition to the police drama

Line of Duty star Martin Compston has expressed his desire for fellow actor Danny Dyer to join the show. In a candid chat with the Mirror, the Steve Arnott portrayer disclosed that while there are currently no definite plans to revive their beloved characters, if the popular BBC series were to swing back into action, he thinks 46 year old Danny would be a fabulous choice.

The Scotsman has been on Soccer Aid's roster since 2014, teaming up with a host of household names on the pitch each year to raise funds for UNICEF UK. Sharing his thoughts on the importance of the upcoming charity football match in June, actor Martin continued to praise the game and that it makes a huge difference for those who need help from the charity.

Martin first joined the Soccer Aid squad in 2014, at that time the captain was Michael Sheen, and they played with the likes of James McAvoy, Gordon Ramsay and Sam Worthington.
