Durham police recovered $400,000 worth of stolen construction equipment and a Markham man is now facing charges.
The DRPS East Division Community Response Team began an investigation in December and then investigators carried out two search warrants.They all had fake vehicle identification numbers and police say the suspect was trafficking the equipment. Ramki Sasithasan, 33, of Markham, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000 x5; trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000 x4; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 x2; possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000 x3; alter/destroy/remove VIN x4; false pretences x2 and fail to comply with release order.Anyone with new information about this incident is asked to call Cst.
