The Georgia representative announced through her social media on Wednesday that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given"unfettered access" to the tapes to reporters John Solomon, Julie Kelly, and"a third outlet." Greene added that their reporting on the tapes will begin on Thursday."This is the transparency the American people deserve and I look forward to their reporting!" Greene wrote on social media.

I’m excited to share the good news that just as I promised the J6 tapes are being released!@SpeakerMcCarthy has given @jsolomonReports, @Julie_kelly2, and a third outlet unfettered access to the J6 tapes, and their reporting on it starts tomorrow.Earlier this month, Greene stated she had been asked by many people when the tapes would be released, and she said that she was"wondering the very same thing."Well I’m wondering the very same thing and waiting too.

The American people paid for the video cameras that are installed all over the Capitol building that they also pay for.The release of the Jan. 6 tapes to other reporters comes after former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson was the first to receive them earlier this year. McCarthy’s decision to provide the footage to Carlson was widely criticized by Democrats and even some Republicans, who argued that Carlson has spread misinformation on various topics.

The Jan. 6 riots took place shortly before President Donald Trump left the White House in 2021. Trump, who is running for president again in the 2024 presidential election, stated earlier this month that he would pardon most of the Jan. 6 protesters, though he noted that a couple of them"got out of control."

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, a Republican who is also running for president, has stated he has no plans to issue"blanket pardons" to the Jan. 6 protesters. Hutchinson also asserted that President Joe Biden was"certainly" duly elected in 2020.
