Aaron, who coincidentally also has a son named Ben and a daughter named Sydney, also spotted some major similarities between herself and her character. “Here are the ways in which I’m like Shirley: I’m a woman, I’m Jewish, I’m married, I have children,” the actress explains. “Here’s how I’m not like Shirley, I have no talent at any domestic art,” she says, adding she doesn’t “cook” or “clean” around the house.
“Shirley is the ultimate wife in a sense that she has taken the domestic arts to a place of artform as far as I’m concerned,” Aaron adds.“She also has no boundaries whatsoever, which I love,” she continues. “She is not self-referential, she’s not going to bed at night going, ‘Oh my God, maybe I shouldn’t have said that,’ which is what keeps me up,” Aaron says, adding that “none of that keeps Shirley awake.” “As a matter of fact, I don’t think she really has any trouble falling asleep.
