I was encouraged to see The Globe and Mail’s coverage of the disturbing racism against Indigenous people in that city.Among many other important details in The Globe’s article, it was gratifying to learn that the city council agreed to give the police chief the money she requested for the Thunder Bay Police Service. Perhaps additional funding will help produce changes in the destructive stereotypical ideas that have stood in the way of solving the crimes against some of the young victims.

Consumer protection law includes so-called buyer’s remorse provisions that permit revocation of certain purchases made in haste or under vulnerable circumstances. Odd indeed that, in the U.K. at least, a hasty purchase of aluminum siding receives better legal treatment than a hasty decision about the future of the nation.So now we have a new educational strategy in Ontario: According to Education Minister Lisa Thompson, less teacher time, attention and supports will increase students’ resilience and coping skills.

Your editorial, A Fight Over Class Size Is The Wrong Fight , says every time a Conservative government comes in, it wants to slash education funding and the unions want to fight it. You say research suggests that a moderate increase in class size after Grade 3 does not have a substantial impact.

Your didn’t note that every time Conservatives get in power, they also look to slash health-care costs . Maybe lack of care will make us more resilient, too?
