Knies appeared to be in line to make his Stanley Cup playoffs debut in Game 2 of the best-of-seven series on Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena, but Keefe said final decisions on the lineup would be made on Thursday.
“Sammy is going in net for sure,” Keefe said. “He wanted to get on the ice today. We were going to sort of cater the practice to what he wanted coming off of a start. He wanted to be in there and to me, he was sending a message to the team about how focused he is.” The 20-year-old Knies skated on a line in practice with centre Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari on the left.Article content
“That’d be awesome,” Knies said of the chance of getting into Game 2. “Every kid’s dream is to play in the playoffs and play for the Stanley Cup, so I’d be super-stoked and pumped to be a part of it and just try to contribute.”
