In this playoff spring where certainty remains in hibernation, the teams played cautious at TD Garden. They were trying to control everything they could and even some of the things they couldn’t. The Bruins had a couple quality looks on three power plays in the opening 40 minutes and saw David Krejci beat Frederik Andersen high — only to have the puck hit the post and stay out.had Toronto’s best chance on a short-handed breakaway, but fired it just over the net. Tyler Ennis, who saw just six shifts through two periods, used one of them to drive hard to the net and break in alone on Rask.
Kapanen extended the lead at 13:45 — giving him his first goal of the post-season and just his second since Feb. 27 — to give Toronto some necessary breathing room because Krejci broke Andersen’s shutout at 19:16.Game 6 goes Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Arena, and the Leafs are coming home one victory away from their first series victory since 2004.
