Prosecutors said they were not ready to proceed with the former National Assembly Speaker's request to disclose sections of the police docket in the matter.
JOHANNESBURG - Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula's application to have the State disclose further information on her corruption case has been postponed. The former National Assembly Speaker wants the State to disclose sections of the police docket in the matter. The application was due to be heard at the Pretoria High Court on Thursday morning. However, State prosecutor Bheki Manyathi said they needed more time.
"The applicant filed heads of argument on Monday, the second of December. They consist of 133 pages, and reference is made to 128 decided cases and eight legal publications. "So, the heads themselves, in the State's view, are voluminous, coupled with the legal authorities referred to. As a result of that, the State indicated on Tuesday that it is highly unlikely it would have read all the case law authorities and be ready to argue the matter today."Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, former parliamentary speaker, has arrived at the Pretoria High Court for her corruption case.
The court will today hear an opposed application from Mapisa-Nqakula to have the state disclose Sections B & C of the police docket on her. TCG
