The Manyeleti community in Mpumalanga has been handed title deeds of the Manyeleti Nature Reserve after a successful land claim, ensuring it continues as a thriving conservation site and local economic asset.

After decades of effort, the Manyeleti community has reclaimed their land, which includes the Manyeleti Nature Reserve . The reserve, now owned by the community, will continue its operations as a conservation site, promoting local employment and investment. The Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development, Mzwanele Nyhontso, handed over the title deeds to the community in Hoedspruit.

The reserve, located in Mpumalanga and spanning 23,000 hectares, is home to elephants, wild dogs, hyenas, lions, and rhinos. The community is working with the Mpumalanga Tourism Parks Agency to manage the reserve sustainably and discussing plans for a co-management agreement. Government departments are also involved in advising on a sustainable development plan for the area
