Rob Moore, the agent of former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi, discusses his client's future plans following his departure from the South African football club. Moore emphasizes the importance of finding a project that inspires Mngqithi and reveals that they are exploring opportunities both domestically and internationally.
Manqoba Mngqithi 's agent, Rob Moore, has provided an update on the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach's future following his departure from the club late last year. When Rhulani Mokwena left Sundowns, the club announced that Mngqithi would take over training the first team. Initially, it was unclear if Sundowns was seeking a new head coach to replace Mokwena.
Ultimately, Mngqithi led the team through pre-season and subsequently signed a new deal, seemingly solidifying his role as Sundowns' new coach. Despite Masandawana currently sitting atop the league table, a shock defeat against the league rookies after scoring first, coupled with failing to win their first two games in the current season, marked their worst start yet. This performance has placed pressure on the coach. Following a period away from the dugout, questions have arisen regarding Mngqithi's future beyond Sundowns. Speaking to media, Moore stated, 'We had a great meeting just recently. There's absolutely no rush. I've spoken about this on quite a few occasions. The most important thing for Manqoba is to have a project that inspires him. He is not a young football coach and he is not old, so the next project has to be full of meaning and purpose. That's the discussion we had. We are currently looking at opportunities, as well, outside the borders of the country. It's all very low-key at the moment. We are not rushing into anything.' Moore further confirmed that no official offers had been received for Mngqithi, as they hadn't publicly released his availability.
