Manchester United have added three key signings but more work needs to be done in the transfer market
Erik ten Hag went into the summer seeking a goalkeeper, midfielder and striker. Tick, tick, tick. Mason Mount was first through the door and Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have followed.
Hojlund has yet to make his debut due to injury but Mount and Onana seem like fixtures in the starting XI. More new arrivals might follow but the shift under Ten Hag to recruiting players who clearly fit with the identifiable style the Dutchman is implementing is an obvious positive. But the work doesn't stop there. United must also try to offload fringe players before the window shuts on September 1.
Recruitment is always a balance, the demand is for new and better. The reality is not every deal can be a success and books have to be balanced. The muddled thinking at Old Trafford over the past decade has not lent itself to clear transfer planning.
