Manchester United have reportedly reignited their interest in an Ajax Amsterdam star, and made a mammoth bid for his services. 👀 More here! ➡
The Red Devils were widely linked with a number of players from Erik ten Hag's former side following his appointment as the Premier League side's boss in April.Winger Antony was reportedly one of the club's main targets until it was claimed that United had been priced out of a move for the Brazil international, with the Eredivisie side valuing the winger at £70 million , according to journalist Dean Jones.
He added at the time that the Manchester club was not desperate to get the forward and would not pay over the odds for his signature. However, following United's two successive Premier League defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, the club's stance on his potential acquisition has changed., Ten Hag's team have bid £67.5 million for the 22-year-old, but the offer is said to have already been rejected.
With the bid being turned down, the Old Trafford decision-makers are not optimistic about the possibility of agreeing terms with the Dutch club as they are reluctant to increase the original offer. It is further claimed that PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo is now considered to be United's next main attacking target.
It is said he has a gentleman's agreement with his team allowing him to leave if a suitable bid was made, and United could soon tempt PSV with an offer., the 23-year-old will cost about £34 million , less than half of Ajax's reported price for Antony.
