Teden Mengi is leaving Man United on a permanent deal this summer after progressing through the club's academy.
Manchester United defender Teden Mengi is set to join Luton Town on a permanent deal ahead of transfer deadline day.
The Manchester Evening News understands Mengi received proposals from domestic and European sides, but the player carefully considered his options and decided that joining Luton was best for the next stage of his career. Club sources recently noted the hard work Mengi has put in to prepare for a move this summer and he's leaving with well wishes.Mengi spent time with fitness coaches weeks before United's pre-season started to get himself in peak physical condition.
The academy graduate was set to leave on loan in the January transfer window, but he sustained an injury against Real Betis as part of the warm-weather training camp in December and that scuppered his exit in the winter. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed Mengi his senior debut against LASK in the Europa League in August 2020 and he's since had loan spells in the Championship with Derby County and Birmingham.
