The Tower is the chimney for the Network’s boiler, which uses green gas to produce electricity and heat for several civic buildings, like the Bridgewater Hall, Central Library, and Art Gallery. However, despite promising to be an important step in Manchester’s journey to net zero, the project has run into financial and environmental issues.
