Manchester City secured a convincing 4-1 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League, with Erling Haaland scoring a brace and Savinho providing three assists. The win marks City's first back-to-back victories since October.
Manchester City defeated West Ham United 4-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, achieving their first consecutive victories since October. Erling Haaland scored two goals, contributing to one of City's most impressive performances in recent weeks. The champions occupy sixth place in the table with 34 points, trailing leaders Liverpool by 11 points, who have two games in hand. West Ham, coming off a 5-0 loss to Liverpool, are 13th with 23 points.
Savinho, who netted his first goal for City in their 2-0 victory over Leicester City, assisted three goals at Etihad Stadium. His angled shot in the 10th minute, deflected by defender Vladimir Coufal, opened the scoring. Haaland's double, his first in a Premier League game since September, came in the 42nd minute when Savinho delivered a long cross, allowing Haaland to head it in. Haaland added his second shortly after halftime with a deft chip over goalkeeper Alphonse Areola after being set up by Savinho. Phil Foden extended City's lead in the 58th minute when Kevin De Bruyne capitalized on Mohammed Kudus's misplaced pass, providing Foden with an easy tap-in. West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui will likely regret several missed opportunities for his team, particularly in the first half. Kudus squandered a close-range shot, and Soucek and Kudus both sent shots wide. This was only the second time this season that City scored four goals in a league game, the other being a 4-1 victory against Ipswich Town
