As our society continues to confront the challenges of diabetes, it is time to shift care from being reactive to proactive, says the writer.

It has been nearly eight years since we declared a war on diabetes. The campaign came with good reason: Diabetes affects one in every nine Singaporeans and it is estimated that nearly one million Singaporeans could be living with diabetes by 2050. Since then, significant efforts have been made to address the health issue that continues to affect many.
