Man yelled 'I'm from Manchester' before he was murdered by 'out of control mob', court hears
A man yelled '"I'm from Manchester" before he was murdered by an 'out of control mob', a court has heard. Mark Gibson, 52, died from a stab wound inflicted with a large kitchen knife during an attack, Preston Crown Court heard.
The court heard Mr Gibson was banging on the windows and doors, shouting: "You're a f***ing grass. You're not going to get away with this. I'm from Manchester. Youse two are grassbags." One witness heard him shout, "I'm going to f***ing slash you." As he lay on the ground, Mr Gibson was set upon by the group, with the prosecution alleging Neil had an object in his hand which he 'jabbed' at Mr Gibson. Mr Gibson ran to a garden to seek refuge and could be heard by witnesses shouting 'help.' Steele, who was armed with a tyre wrench, followed him into the garden, with Walsh behind, holding an object - although it is not clear what that was, the court heard.
Emergency services arrived at the scene, after being called by neighbours, and attempted CPR. Mr Gibson was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but was pronounced dead at 2:13am. A post mortem examination concluded he died from a stab wound to his right shoulder which severed major veins and arteries. He also had a number of minor injuries.
