Police saved a man's life after he threatened to jump off a 15ft bridge into the River Trent. Nottinghamshire Police says officers were called to the Attenborough area just before midnight on June 26 amid reports of concerns for a man's safety.
Those attending the incident were PC Josh Dowdy, PC Gareth Hope, PC Natalie Short and Sergeant Cai Kemish. Sergeant Kemish said: "The man was clearly having a mental health crisis and very distressed and it was important we worked hard to ensure we brought him to safety. The bridge was approximately 15ft directly over the River Trent, with the man positioned in the middle of the bridge.
Chief Inspector Anwaar Ahmed, who leads the city response, said: "We hope that the man gets the support he needs. I truly believe that if it was not for the actions of these officers on the night, the outcome could have been very different. They played an integral part in saving a man's life."
