A man died early Friday after he was stabbed in downtown Anchorage, police said, and a suspect was in custody.
Officers were called to the 300 block of West Fourth Avenue at 1:34 a.m. for a reported stabbing, police wrote in a. Initial reports indicate that during a physical altercation between two men, one stabbed the other in the upper body.
Few details were available about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. Police did not immediately respond to questions about the incident Friday morning. The wounded man was taken to the hospital, and police said at 8:30 a.m. that he had died from his injuries. Police took a suspect into custody and he was being questioned by detectives, the statement said. The incident appeared to be an isolated event, police said.This is a developing story.
