A Glasgow homeless charity has repeated calls for the council to provide them with a permanent 'safe' building after a man was seriously assaulted while queuing at their soup kitchen.
The 37-year-old man was seriously assaulted on Argyle Street where volunteers with Homeless Project Scotland were serving food and supplies to those in need.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the Hielanman's Umbrella around 8.30pm on Sunday evening and the injured man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. The incident has led to further calls from the charity for Glasgow City Council to provide them with a permanent building to operate from.
The council has so far been unable to find a building suitable for the charity's needs due to the 'limited number' of properties at its disposal.
