A man in his 30s was taken to an area hospital after he shot while confronting suspected carjackers on the city’s West Side late Monday night.

Officers were called just before midnight to the 7800 block of West Military Drive, not far from Marbach Road and John Jay High School after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, the man had been the victim of a carjacking and later found his vehicle at a West Side E-Z Shop at the corner of West Military Drive and Timbercreek Drive. That’s when, police say, he went to confront the assailants inside the store. Police said while confronting the carjackers one of the men pulled out a gun and started firing. The man was struck in the arm by a bullet. The suspects fled on foot and have not been found, police said.The San Antonio Police Department and EMS both responded to the call.About the Author:
