According to NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell, law enforcement received a 911 call from the alleged suspect’s father who said that his 42-year-old son was suffering from a manic episode and apparently threatened to kill.
Police sources told amNewYork Metro that the incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. outside of 2685 Grand Concourse.
Officers from the 52nd Precinct arrived at the scene and spoke with the suspect’s father when the man emerged. Spotting the cops, Chell said the man produced a large kitchen knife from a bag and began marching toward them.“The officers gave him numerous instructions to drop the knife, at which time he does not comply. They discharge their firearms, striking the subject,” Chell told members of the press Sunday afternoon.
