Revised at 4:11 p.m. with additional information from Denton fire department.Denton Fire Department crews were called about 2 p.m. to the 2300 block of Royal Acres Drive — just a block from the nearest fire station — where fire and heavy smoke were seen coming from the house.
Firefighters arrived in about two minutes. A neighbor told first responders that a car belonging to the man who lived in the house was parked there, indicating the owner should be inside the house. Firefighter said they found “an extensive amount of piled contents in the house, making fire attack and searching extremely difficult.” The man, who was in his 60s, was found by firefighters in a back bedroom. He was taken to a hospital where he was in serious condition, department spokesman David Boots said. His name has not been released.
