A number of people are believed to have spoken to the victim at the time.
The 55-year-old was at the shop on Causeyside Street in Paisley on Friday evening when he was assaulted by a male suspect at around 11.15pm.

Detective Constable Malcolm Clark, from Paisley CID, said: “Our enquiries have established that the area was quite busy at the time of the attack and the victim was spoken to by numerous members of the public. “We are appealing to anyone with information on the incident to contact police on 101, quoting incident 1297 of December 10.
