Police and firefighters were called to 43-year-old Anthony Citro’s home at 37 Chestnut Hill Drive East at 7:24 a.m. on May 17, 2021 after they received a 911 call reporting a fire there, according to a statement from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. When police arrived, they found Citro outside the home with blood on his clothes as smoke was seen coming from inside.
Her cause of death was ruled a homicide by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office and the manner of death was determined to be sharp force injuries, officials said. He was charged with murder, arson and weapons-related offenses but pleaded guilty on Nov. 16 to first degree aggravated manslaughter, the office said. Citro must serve 85% of the sentence before he is eligible for parole.
