Jay Allen Johnson previously testified that he had no intention to carry out the threats because he is 'a senior citizen and...highly disabled.'
An Alaska man accused of threatening the lives of two U.S. senators has pleaded not guilty.
Other charges faced by Johnson include being a felon in possession of firearms and threatening interstate communications. He was convicted of drunk driving in 2016, making it illegal for him to own firearms. However, authorities are hoping to confiscate three revolvers, two pistols, a rifle and a shotgun from Johnson's property.
Jay Allen Johnson was indicted for threatening Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan. Murkowski, an Alaskan Republican, walks to the Senate Chambers for a vote at the U.S. Capitol Building on October 21 in Washington, D.C.Weiner entered the plea on his client's behalf during Johnson's arraignment in U.S. District Court in Fairbanks.
Johnson's wife, Catherine Pousson-Johnson, testified during her husband's detention hearing in October that he was was in pain after recent surgeries and that he"gets very angry listening to politics on the news."from the Associated Press that Johnson asked Murkowski in one of his voicemails if she knew what a .50 caliber shell can do to a human head.
