The RNC tactics and rescue unit responds to a firearm call in Conception Bay South Tuesday. Keith Gosse/The TelegramCONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, N.L. — A firearm call in Conception Bay South Tuesday resulted in one male who is well-known to police and the courts being taken into custody.

That man, identified as Justin Jennings, had been scheduled to go to trial on Monday on more than a dozen gun-related offences in connection with an incident in Conception Bay South last spring.On Tuesday, police responded to the area of Petten's Road and surrounded a home at number 10. Two men, one of them Jennings, exited the home at one point and Jennings was handcuffed and taken away by police.

The response to the call involved patrol officers, traffic services, a K-9 team and the tactics and rescue unit.The Conception Bay South highway in the area, as well as Pettens Road, were closed to traffic for several hours during the response. Police said on Twitter that there was no danger to the public but asked residents to stay inside until the situation could be resolved.
