A man was killed, and his wife and son were taken to a Dallas hospital after a twin-engine jet crashed Saturday near the runway of Ennis Municipal Airport.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the family flew a Cessna 310 that crashed in a field near the airport about 3:20 p.m. An Ennis police spokesperson said Thursday a family from The Woodlands, north of Houston, was attempting to land in Ennis and crashed in an open field right next to a runway. An FAA preliminary incident report said a fire sparked after the crash.
No first responders were hurt, and the mother and the 20-year-old son were taken to a Dallas-area hospital, a police spokesperson said. Police did not know what their condition was.
