At least 16 shots were fired at a group of people playing basketball in East Mount Airy, leaving one man in critical condition, according to police.

for information that leads to convictions in cases of shootings near schools, recreation centers and libraries. Authorities say officers received reports of gunshots and a shooting at a playground on the 3000 block of East Pleasant Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 22-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his head and buttocks, police say.
