A man has been in court over accusations he defrauded Watford residents out of £7k.

A woman who used another person's bank card to buy an iphone is one of several people in court accused of committing fraud in Watford.

He pleaded guilty at St Albans Magistrates' Court on April 5 to theft by finding and fraud by representation, and was ordered to pay £55 in compensation to the victim.Sarah Harty, 41, of Malta Street, London, was in court accused of trying to use another woman’s driving licence and bank card to withdraw £2,000 from the Nationwide Building Society in The Parade on November 18, 2023.

She also did not attend St Albans Magistrates' Court on February 23 this year as instructed after being released on bail.Akanise Saukawa, 42, of Wickham Lane, London, appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court on March 5 accused of using other people’s bank cards to buy phones in Watford and various cities across the UK.
