The Frankfort Regional Court sentenced a man to four years in jail for tax fraud after he defrauded the SA Revenue Service R1 million between 2016 and 2019.
RUSTENBURG - A 38-year-old man was sentenced to four years imprisonment for contravening the Tax Administration Act, the Hawks in the Free State said on Friday.
“A preliminary probe by the South African Revenue Services uncovered Makhubo’s fraudulent activities that costed the receiver of revenue in access of more than R1 million. The incident took place between 2016 and 2019,” he said. “Makhubo was served court summons on 18 October 2019. He appeared in court on several occasions, culminating in his recent conviction. The court sentenced Makhubo to four years direct imprisonment.”
Captain Singo said Jordan had been arrested on the same day by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Welkom.
