Ashraf Hartley, a 34-year-old man from Johannesburg, has been sentenced to five consecutive life sentences for raping his minor relatives aged between six and twelve. One of the victims revealed the abuse after receiving sex education at school and writing a letter to her mother. The court heard that Hartley, adopted into the family at 11 months old, used his position of trust to exploit and harm his younger relatives.
