Alberta’s police watchdog is investigating whether two shootings involving Mounties that left one man dead are connected.
At about 3:10 a.m. on Monday, Strathcona County RCMP were conducting patrols on Highway 16 at Highway 825 when they spotted a vehicle with a stolen licence plate. Officers approached the man, “an altercation occurred” and officers shot the man. Despite medical assistance from police, the man died from his injuries.The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the circumstances of both shootings and whether they are connected. The RCMP will also conduct an internal review process to gather a full account of what took place during both shootings.
