Officers on patrol encountered suspect trying to escape from back of residence, police said
Officers from the Batchewana First Nation Police Service were on patrol duties in Batchewana First Nation July 11 when they observed an open door at a residence on Gran Street, according to a news release.
Police visited the address two unknown people. While speaking to police, an officer observed a person known to police who was attempting to sneak out the back door. Police made an arrest and while searching the suspect officers found a small amount of suspect methamphetamine, the release said. Christopher Hill, 29, from Batchewana First Nation was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance - methamphetamine, the release said.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on Aug. 28.
