The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office said that 56-year-old David Judy was the person who died when his vehicle went off the Thompson Run Bridge at around 11 a.m.
Photos from the scene appear to show the railing along the bridge snapped and missing where Thompson’s vehicle appears to have left the roadway.
A witness told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that she was on the bridge when the accident occurred, according to reports. She said that Judy’s vehicle – reportedly a Toyota 4 Runner — appeared to pass another car before going off the side of the bridge, and into a railyard below.
