UPDATE: Anthony Rauda was sentenced to 119 years to life in prison for the shooting death of Tristan Beaudette as he camped with his daughters at Malibu Creek State Park.
Sentencing is set Wednesday for a man convicted of fatally shooting a research scientist as he slept inside a tent with his two young daughters in Malibu Creek State Park.
Jurors acquitted Rauda of seven other attempted murder charges involving a series of other early-morning shootings in the same area. Rauda's attorney, Nicholas Okorocha, countered that there was "reasonable doubt" involving the charges against his client."You have these unanswered questions," the defense lawyer said in his closing argument.A grand jury indictment was unsealed Tuesday against a man accused of killing a research scientist from Irvine, who was shot while camping with his two young daughters in Malibu Creek State Park last year.

"I heard the girls crying," he said, telling jurors that Beaudette's youngest daughter said, "Wet, wet" and that he didn't think anything about it at the time.
