Manchester City claimed their first UEFA Super Cup crown with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Sevilla on Wednesday evening.
Kevin De Bruyne missed out through injury which is set to sideline him for the next few months, as Pep Guardiola gave a first start to Josko Gvardiol.
City looked to pull level a few minutes apart from a pin-point header by defender Nathan Ake in the wake of a floated supply, but Yassine Bounou was up for it. En-Nesyri had a golden chance to complete a brace five minutes after the break when he made a late run to get on the end of Lucas Ocampos’ low delivery, but City goalkeeper Ederson was equal to the task.
At the other end, Ederson rushed out of his area to deny En-Nesyri yet again as the Moroccan closed-in to a double through a one-on-one with Julian Alvarez hauled on for Palmer.
