Gareth Southgate makes major call ahead of this summer's European Championships
Manchester City star Jack Grealish has been sensationally left out of the England squad for Euro 2024 , according to reports.
The 28-year-old came off the bench in Monday night’s friendly win over Bosnia and produced an eye catching cameo. But it’s not been enough to secure him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad for the tournament. The Athletic report Grealish will miss out with the City star the biggest name to have been cut from the initial 33 man party. Tottenham’s James Maddison and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones have also been cut while reports suggest Manchester United defender Harry Maguire will miss out due to injury.ALSO READ: 'I want to explain' - Man City chairman opens up on ticket price row
Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and Liverpool rookie Jarrell Quansah are also set to miss out with six of the seven players to be omitted seemingly now known. Southgate has until 11pm on Friday to submit his final squad to UEFA, with the 26-man selection scheduled to be announced on Saturday morning.
Grealish played a key role as City won the treble in 2023 but an injury hit campaign last season meant he was reduced to more of a supporting role. He made only 10 Premier League starts and was an unused substitute as City lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United. He scored three goals in 40 appearances for club and country.
