41-year-old Damien Bradford had only been released from prison in 2021 when he set the sights of his 9mm pistol on Jonnie Schooley, a state trooper, in Aliquippa, CBS News said. Bradford was waving his pistol around at people outside the Franklin Mini-Mart just after midnight when state police responded, according to CBSNews. When state police tried to restrain him, he violently resisted and shot Schooley in the leg, state troopers said.
