Ashley Watling was caught out by the woman after breaking into her house twice
A man who broke into a close friend's house and pleasured himself on underwear from her knicker drawer has been jailed.
Prosecutor Ekwall Tiwana told the court the victim and her husband had been long-term friends of Watling. But when she returned to her Porthill home after the school run at 9am on June 15 last year she was shocked to see Watling stood on her stairs. In his police interview he said he was having issues with his wife and with work. He said he did it because he wanted to '**** everything up'. He admitted to having a fetish with underwear, to having the key cut and going to the property twice.
They have had to change their locks and improve their security and she added the whole episode has been degrading and embarrassing. She said: "He has destroyed me, taken away my dignity and the ability to protect and defend ourselves. It is something I will never be able to forget and will have to live with it for the rest of my life."
"The victim's husband continued to work for a substantial period of time between the discovery on June 15 and the matter being reported to the police in November." "It is unfortunate that he did this but he acted out of character. There is genuine remorse. It would impact on his wife and child if he were sent to custody." He added that Watling's dad is terminally ill and has not long left to live.
